If you’re a foodie, then you’re going to love this post! The food scene is ever-changing here and there are always new restaurants opening. Singaporeans LOVE food (including myself), not just the local food but ALL types of food! Below are a few new restaurants around the CBD area that we recommend.

1. GIO

Any Italian food lovers out there? You are going to love this authentic Italian restaurant! It is opened by a lovely Italian couple, who flew their chef in all the way from Italy. They just started the restaurant end of March and you can be rest assured on the quality of food they serve. Check out their specially crafted menu here. My personal favourite is their fried pizza with truffled mortadella and of course, their classic Tiramisu. Give it a try and tell us how you like it!

2. Carne

Not the ordinary burger chain restaurant; Carne is the first international outpost of the gourmet burger chain created by the Argentinian chef, Mauro Colagreco. He owns the three-Michelin star restaurant, Mirazur, which was ranked number 1 on the world’s 50 best restaurants in 2019. Who can argue with an Argentinian when it comes to choosing good meat? What’s more? The restaurant uses sustainable ingredients for all the items on their menu, from their burgers to their sides and drinks. Check out their full menu here!

3. Kulto

Another new Spanish restaurant, right next to Carne! It’s the first Spanish restaurant in Singapore that offers sangria on a tap! Besides serving the classic tapas and paellas that you can easily find in every corner of Spain, they also created locally-inspired dishes like grilled prawn, garlic, chili and homemade sambal to cater to the Singaporeans’ palate. Their set lunch menu includes a starter and main course at $30++ per person, with $5 to add on for dessert, which is fairly affordable, especially for a restaurant in the CBD.

4. La Fête

The restaurant’s name translates to “The Celebration” in French. They offer a private dining area at the corner of the restaurant where you can pre-book in advance to host your guests. A fusion of Western and Asian elements in their food such as the raw yellow tail and crabmeat pasta brings delightful flavour to your tastebuds. They offer very affordable set lunch menu at $28++ for 2 courses and $32++ for 3 courses.

5. Itaewon Jjajang

Time to take a turn for some Asian food! Tanjong Pagar is known to be a little Koreatown that houses many Korean restaurants in Singapore. This restaurant adds to the selection of Korean restaurants in the area that serves classic Korean-Chinese food such as Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), Jjamppong (seafood noodle soup) and Tangsuyuk (sweet and sour meat). It is probably the most value for money option, where all of those makes a set to share for $45.

6. Cloudstreet (Bonus!)

This restaurant has been around for about 3 years, so it’s not newly opened but definitely worth a try. They made it to the 31st place on the best restaurants in Asia 2021, which was recently announced this March. The concept is more of providing a wholesome experience for guests through their hospitality and tasting menu that is specially crafted based on individual’s preferences and dietary restrictions. It is on the pricier side but a good place to visit for special occasions.

Go ahead and try out these restaurants if you haven’t! Also, it would be wise to make a reservation before heading over to these restaurants, especially for dinner, just to avoid the disappointment of not getting a seat.

Bon appetit!
